This documentary explores conceptions of authenticity, race, and privilege in foodie culture. - it making you racist? Are your only options either mac-and-cheese or pho with a side of guilt? Not exactly. We reimagine the ethnic food experience as a mere moment within a longer transnational culinary dialogue. We seek to explore and understand cultural difference as something more nuanced and complicated than the simplistic divisions between origin and copy, us and them implied by the notion of authentic cuisine. At the end of the day we are looking to make food tastier by embracing the often vexing challenges of cross-cultural exchange in our global community.Why is a burrito—invented in America—considered ethnic, yet a sandwich is simply food?
